How CallShield handles and protects your personal information
Summary: CallShield is designed with a privacy-first philosophy. All data is processed and stored locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with third parties. Your call logs, blocking rules, and contact information never leave your phone.
TimXSoft ("we," "our," or "us") operates the CallShield mobile application for Android (the "App"). This Privacy Policy is designed to inform users ("you" or "your") about our policies and practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our App. We take your privacy extremely seriously, and this document outlines in full detail the measures we take to protect your data, the limited information we access, and the choices you have regarding your personal information.
By downloading, installing, and using CallShield, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please uninstall the application from your device immediately.
CallShield requires access to certain device capabilities in order to perform its core function of screening and blocking incoming phone calls. It is important to understand that accessing information is fundamentally different from collecting information. CallShield accesses data locally on your device but does not transmit, upload, or share any of this data.
When an incoming call is received, the Android operating system provides CallShield with the caller's phone number through the Call Screening API. CallShield uses this number solely to compare it against your locally stored blocking rules (such as specific numbers, prefixes, ranges, schedules, and blocked contacts) and to determine whether the call should be accepted or rejected. The phone number is processed entirely in memory and is only written to the local call history database on your device if you have the history feature enabled. At no point is the caller's phone number sent to any remote server.
If you choose to enable the "Block Unknown Numbers" feature or the "Block by Contact" feature, CallShield will request permission to read your device's contact list. This permission is used exclusively to determine whether an incoming caller is present in your contacts (for unknown number blocking) or to allow you to select specific contacts to block. CallShield does not copy, cache, index, or upload your contacts data anywhere. The contacts are read in real-time during the screening process and during the contact selection dialog only.
All blocking rules you create, including specific phone numbers, prefix patterns, range definitions, schedule configurations, and blocked contacts, are stored in a local SQLite database on your device. This database is private to the CallShield application and is not accessible by other apps. Call history records (showing blocked and allowed calls) are also stored in this same local database. You can delete this data at any time from within the app, and all data is permanently removed when you uninstall CallShield from your device.
It is equally important to clarify what we do not collect. CallShield does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
We have deliberately and intentionally designed CallShield to function without requiring any network connectivity for its core features. The only time the app communicates with external servers is when you initiate a Google Play Billing transaction to purchase the PRO upgrade, and that transaction is handled entirely by Google's secure billing infrastructure — not by our servers.
CallShield integrates with the following third-party service for the limited purpose described below:
CallShield uses Google Play Billing to process in-app purchases for the PRO upgrade. This service is operated entirely by Google LLC. When you make a purchase, Google handles the payment processing, transaction verification, and purchase receipt management. We do not have access to your payment details (such as credit card numbers or bank account information). For information on how Google handles your data, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
CallShield provides a Backup and Restore feature that allows you to export your blocking rules to a JSON file and import them back later. When you use this feature, the data is saved to a location of your choosing on your device or cloud storage (such as Google Drive). This operation is initiated and controlled entirely by you. We do not automatically back up your data, and we do not have access to any backup files you create.
We are committed to ensuring the security of your data. Since all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data is inherently tied to the security of your device itself. We recommend the following best practices to protect your data:
On the application level, CallShield's local database is stored in the app's private directory, which is sandboxed by the Android operating system and cannot be accessed by other installed applications under normal operating conditions.
CallShield is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since CallShield does not collect any personal data from any user, this concern is mitigated by design. However, if you believe that a child has provided us with personal information through any channel, please contact us immediately so we can address the matter.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or regulatory obligations. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
As a user of CallShield, you have the following rights with respect to your data:
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy, or if you wish to exercise any of your rights as described above, please contact us at:
We will respond to your inquiry within a reasonable timeframe and do our best to address your concerns promptly and thoroughly.
